Bob Liekens, Pilates Master Teacher Trainer und Mitbegründer des auch in Österreich zertifizierten Ausbildungsinstitutes THE PILATES STANDARD ist völlig unerwartet Anfang November in Florenz gestorben. 
Bob Liekens wurde in Belgien geboren, absolvierte die Rotterdam Academy of Dance und lernte nach seinem Umzug nach New York Romana Kryzanowska und die klassische Pilates-Methode kennen und lieben. Im Jahre 1993 entwickelten Romana und Bob ein Pilates Teacher Ausbildungsprogramm, das über die Jahre weiterentwickelt wurde. Als Mitgründer von THE PILATES STANDARD und auf Einladung von Sandra Käfer war Bob Liekens oft in Österreich zu Gast. Auf seiner Homepage steht: "Believing that a true teacher remains always a student – and that genuine understanding requires constant questioning, investigation and exploration – Bob has taken the work deeper through parallel studies of dance, anatomy, yoga and his first love, the visual arts of drawing and painting." - bobliekens.com
Petra Karlsson, die Mitgründerin von THE PILATES STANDARD schreibt in ihrem Nachruf auf Facebook: " I know that his family, dear friends and teachers all over the world will miss him dearly. He wouldn’t have enjoyed the work as much if it wasn’t for all of you, keeping him interested and inspired. And once in a while drank a glass of wine and eating dessert. I made him one promise when we started our journey together, TO ENSURE THE LEGACY. So, I hope you will keep passing on The Legacy , spreading the word of classical Pilates, staying true to the method and honor the work that he put into our hands."
